Hammond vibrato scanner cleaning
Cleaning tye Hammond vibrato scanner becomes necessary if scanner is over-oiled. Oil saturates the stator insulators, and leakage causes “motor-boating” effect
Procedure:
- Remove 4 nuts and pull motor/scanner assembly from tone generator.
- Remove 3 screws holding the scanner and motor together.
- Remove the felt from oil cup, unthread the oil wicks
- Open scanner back, pull out the carbon brushes from the pin. Close the back cover to protect the pin.
- Open 4 screws to remove the scanner case. Watch the pin!
- Open 16 bolts holding the stator elements in place. Wiring comes loose while doing this.
- Clean all parts using proper solvent
- After cleaning, assemble the scanner in reverse order.
